Jessica Hyde is very dedicated and passionate about teaching. Her goal is for all students to feel loved, respected and safe at school. She wants her students to leave the classroom more aware of the world around them and of who they are as an individual. This is her second year teaching 2nd grade at WPA and looks forward to meeting new students and their families.
She grew up always wanting to be a teacher! She would use her imagination and play school with her friends. As she got older, she spent many hours volunteering in classrooms and decided she was passionate about the lower grade curriculum. While attending the University of Utah, she was an Americorps volunteer for Murray School District where she tutored struggling readers. She did her student teaching in a Kindergarten classroom and after graduating in 2011 she got her first teaching job. She spent her first six years as a first grade teacher and loved it! She loved getting to know each student and their families. Having a strong school community with involved parents is important to her.
Mrs. Hyde and her husband live in North Salt Lake with their two golden-doodle puppies. One of their favorite things is visiting the family cabin where they can unplug and enjoy the outdoors. They enjoy 4-wheeling, snowmobiling, boating and camping.
