I have been involved with music my whole life. ..from my mother singing me to sleep as an infant to performing in a children’s show choir in grade school. I participated in youth orchestra, choir, and musical theater thru High School. In college I had wonderful experiences in Opera, Community Theater, and advanced piano studies. I earned a BA in music from BYU in 1995. Guiding me through all these adventures have been fabulous teachers—JoAnn Ottley, Betty Jeanne Chipman, Douglas Humphries, David Glen Hatch, Rebecca and Mac Wilberg as well as many others . Now it is my turn to gratefully pass on what I have learned.
I love all kinds of classical music as well as musical theater and folk music. I get excited about how music connects to other fields of learning—math, science, history, language, and the other arts. The mind and heart are a great learning team.
I enjoy spending time with my five children. We love to hike, horseback ride, camp, garden, cook, eat international food, read, sing, and volunteer at This Is The Place Heritage Park.
I have a dog (part Lab, part Wookie J) named Hercules and my secret indulgences are The Lord of The Rings trilogy by JRR Tolkien and Country Music.
