Hola!!! Me llamo Laura Smoot. I was just hired in November to be a part of the Spanish teaching team here at WPA. I teach Mrs. Lingman’s pm K, Mrs. Rooney’s 1st grade, and some students in the 3rd and 4th grades. I am really enjoying your beautiful children. They are eager to learn Spanish and we are going to “make that happen” and have fun in the process. I am fluent in Spanish, because as a teen I moved with my family to live in Santiago, Chile and then in Mexico City, Mexico. I then attended BYU and received my Elementary and Early Childhood Education Degrees, with an emphasis in Bilingual Ed. My husband and I have 7 children, 4 grandchildren and a big black border collie. We live in Centerville where my husband was born and raised. We own a child care center in Bountiful, Ready-Set-Grow, but after 6 years, I decided I’d rather teach in a school setting. I’m thrilled to be a part of your community of teachers and hope to meet many of you in the months to come. Hasta luego y Feliz Ano Nuevo!
