I am very excited for the 2011-12 school year. I am looking forward to my first year at Wasatch Peak Academy. I recently retired from the public system after thirty-one years, but I still have the passion to teach. I still enjoy watching children’s faces beam as they learn something new. Wasatch Peak Academy fits me just fine.
I received my B.S. from Brigham Young University and my M. Ed from Utah State. My masters’ project was on Elementary Music Instruction. I am ESL endorsed. I am also bilingual in Spanish. I served an L.D.S. mission to Argentina.
Music has always been important to me. My parents said I could sing before I could talk. I took singing and piano lessons as a child. I played the French horn in elementary and junior high bands. I sang for three years in high school. I also sang with the Mormon Youth Chorus. For the last eighteen plus years I have sung with the Tabernacle Choir.
I have taught recorders, ukuleles, general music, and choir. Three of my choirs sang at Abravanel Hall. I look forward to working with this year’s choir.
My wife (Lori) and I live in Layton. We have three children. Two are married. We are hoping for grandchildren. We do have two grand dogs. They are two basset hounds (Rocco and Boscoe).
I enjoy all sports. At Brighton High School I played football, wrestled, and ran track. I also like to read and cook (on the grill). Of course, I like to sing. My family also likes to escape to Bear Lake whenever we can. That is our getaway.
I look forward to getting to know you all and having a great year.
